Great Day Off

My wife and I took the day off Thursday and we had a great time driving around some back roads. We came across this farm stand that had the most incredible heads of cabbage we had ever seen. they were HUGE!! He had a pickup truck loaded down with hundreds. Now all I have to do is find a HUGE ham to cook with it and invite some friends over for dinner.

iRobot 1100 Dirt Dog™ Bagless Robotic Vacuum

This is not your Grandma's Roomba. This is a special edition Roomba that is a bit more beefier than the standard ones. What makes this one special is just two key elements. The first being the longer and stiffer bristles on the brush heads. This three brush system has been specifically designed to pick up heavy and stubborn materials. Pet hair is grabbed up very quickly and will not get all clogged up on the brush heads on this model. The second big improvement is the 40% larger bin in the vacuum. This allows the unit to pick up larger and just more volume materials. This model however is not for use on plush carpets. The longer brush bristles may keep it from moving along properly. It does work great on all wood floors,tile,marble,decks,brick walkways/patios,concrete,garage floors and even indoor/outdoor carpeting.
This iRobot Dirt Dog like all Roombas operates very simply by just pressing one button. You press it and off it goes! It will travel all over your floors and go back to the spots its missed. It keeps track of where its been and knows where it needs to go next. It has a special sensor the keeps it from falling over the edge of stairs or differing levels of floors. It also has a built in bumper guard sensor that when bumped will cause the vacuum to back away and work its way around objects like chairs and table legs along with walls and any obstructions. The unit is easily charged with the included charger..just plug it in and it will be fully charged overnight.
I watched a full demo presentation at my local Lowes store where they had a few different iRobot Roombas and this model Dirt Dog featured. These are in no way a replacement for your full sized vacuum. If you have alotta kids and pets and just general constant dirt accumulation in your home you will still need to drag out your standard vacuum on a regular basis.These Roombas do a have their place. They work great to "tidy up" and also to keep dirt and debris from piling up in between regular vacuuming cycles.

2GB Kindgston Micro SD Card and adapter

I got two sets of these to use in phones and cameras about three weeks ago and they are fantastic. I paid $16 each shipped and they are worth every penny. I use one in a Verizon Chocolate cell phone and it holds music and photos as well as the phones data very efficiently. This set also comes with the full size SD card adapter so it can be used in my camera. It also transitions nicely on my mini card reader which i use as a thumb drive. I stopped buying full size SD cards months ago as these are more versatile and can be used in multiple devices. The transfer rate is very fast and reliable when it comes to storage. This is a tiny MP3 player that actually is very user friendly. Almost all mp3 players this size will not have a display. This display while very simple has just enough information scrolling across it to vault this unit by leaps and bounds over the iPod Shuffle. This is by no means equivalent to a video player but it does have an FM radio that you will not find and any iPod device. This also has a voice recording mode.. which comes in very handy when you need to take some personal notes. You will access all the features of this player via the click wheel located in the center of the device. This is a very nice way to navigate and you get used to it quickly and find yourself not having to look at the player at all while selecting different options. This also has a equalizer built in which is just ok and doesnt offer a helluva lot of differences. The audio quality is just as good as the iPod Shuffle if not better. You load this player with the included USB cable which is also the way the players internal battery is charged. You can get about 15 hours of use from one full charge which is awesome! Downloads are quick and easy and you dont need to use any proprietary software or service to do so. Just drag and drop music files. This will also hold non music files for easy transfer to other computers. This will sync with Windows Media Player so if you have WMP managing your music library already you're all set.
Bottomline: For just under $21 shipped this is a fantastic value and would be a great holiday gift.

Nyko Charge Station for XBOX360

My son had this Charge Station for about a year until it started acting up on him. It wasnt holding a charge well or it was taking forever to get a full charge. Well.. he gave the unit to me and I contacted Nyko and they didnt even wait for me to tell them what was really wrong. They gave me an address and asked me to mail it to them. I did this.. cost me about $2.75 to mail it and in less than a week I had a brand new one on my doorstep. Inside the DHL Express bag was also an additional 2 MORE batteries!! So now I have the brand new unit and a total of 4 batteries!
Its been working GREAT and I cant rave enough about the CS of Nyko.

Great Features:
The small size factor--It is a very nice palm sized camera. Its not bulky and very easy to carry.
Mini DV Tape- I know that alotta higher end cameras are using Hard Drives and or Flash Drives but Mini DV Tape has come a long way since its beginnings and is now very capable of high resolution video quality. The key is to not tape over it dozens of times. Record and then load it onto your computer for archive or burn to a DVD.
35X Optical Zoom-- This is a HUGE amount of zoom. When you consider most of your still image cameras only offer 4-8X optical zoom this will get you very close to your subject without decreasing the video quality by incorporating digital zoom. This camera still has 800X Digital zoom. This much digital zoom should only be used when you absolutely have to! If you are so far away that you cant make out your subject. This video will be very poor quality and only useful in identifying larger subjects.
Built in microphone--This will enable you to record the audio during video taping.
Built in speaker--This will allow you to hear the playback audio of your recordings.
Built in LED Lighting--This will allow you to record in almost no light or very low light. This feature is usually only offered on camcorders twice this price.
